Freight wagon - a classic in local trains

The freight wagons F24, previously known as Fo5b and F6K, were manufactured in 1961 by Kalmar Verkstads AB (KVAB) for Statens Järnvägar (SJ). These wagons were intended for luggage handling and equipped with a staff compartment and a side passage for passage through the wagon.

History

In 2000, SJ stopped handling luggage, which made these carriages redundant. Most of them were cancelled, but a few have been preserved for use at special events, in museum associations and also, for example, in Snälltågets traffic on various event trains.

F24/F33

The F24 wagons had a loading area of 24 square metres and were equipped with a staff compartment and a side passageway for passage through the wagon. These features allowed for smooth handling of luggage and easy passage for staff. The F24 wagons are an important part of Sweden's railway history and represent the development of luggage handling in the 1960s.

F24 was the smaller sibling with 24m2 cargo space, compared to the F33 which boasted 33m2 cargo space.
