FAQ
“From what platform does the train leave?”
- – The Swedish Transport Administration plans departure platforms and it may be changed at short notice. Keep an eye on the departures board and listen out for announcements at the station.
“What is the difference between 1st and 2nd class?”
– Both are very comfortable, but in 1st class, you travel in luxurious armchairs, while 2nd class corresponds to today’s standard on trains but with more legroom. Feel free to read more about our different carriages and locomotives
“Are you allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages on an excursion?”
– No, we are fully licenced and alcoholic drinks can be purchased onboard (after 11 am). No one is permitted to drink alcoholic drinks other than those that are served on the train. This also applies when the restaurant/bar is closed.
“Is the train accessible for people with disabilities?”
– Unfortunately not, all of the train doors have stairs and also narrow passages between the carriages. The toilets are also not accessible. There are also narrow aisles.
“Can you visit the locomotive?”
– Ask the driver when we are stopped at a station, usually it isn’t a problem.
“How do I pay on board?”
– We take cash, cards and Swish. (the till is emptied after each excursion)
“Can I join in with the work on board?”
– Of course! First and foremost you have to be a member, this is because of insurance and other reasons.
To be a driver and train manager you need to have a formal train driver qualification and a job at a railway company. The other positions require no previous training, we will provide that.
We prefer that you come along on an excursion to try it out before you are entered into the staff register.
We are a non-profit association so you are not paid for your work. The reward is good comradeship and happy passengers. Many of the staff have themselves started out as passengers on an excursion and have realised that we’ve ended up on the “right track”! ”
