R2 5184
Dining car that was previously a combined seating car
The R2 5184 dining car is a carriage originally built as a combined RB1 dining and seating carriage in the 1960s. In the 1980s, it was converted into a bistro car, which meant that some of the seating was replaced by serving areas. It seats nearly 40 people and is used in most of our trains as a dining car.
Popular wagon among small railway companies
R2 5184 has previously belonged to the Swedish Railways (SJ) and also the Swedish Railway Museum, but is now owned by the association. Most private train operators used this type of carriage for a long time and it was also commonly used in SJ's night trains in upper Norrland.
